Our Projects

The Four Essential Freedoms

What makes software "free" according to the Free Software Foundation:

Freedom 0
Run

Use the program for any purpose.

Freedom 1
Study

Read and understand the source code.

Freedom 2
Modify

Change it to suit your needs.

Freedom 3
Share

Redistribute copies to others.

Licensing Policy

All LibreTech Collective projects must use a Free Software license.

  • Copyleft (preferred)
    GPL, LGPL, MPL, AGPL, etc.
  • Permissive
    MIT, BSD, Apache, etc.
  • Source-available-only
    BSL, SSPL, and similar
Our standard

Source code must stay publicly viewable, modifiable, and redistributable.

"Source-available" licenses don't protect user freedoms, regardless of how they're marketed. We won't accept them.

Fully independent and student-run. Our mission comes from our members.
